Sleeping up to 4 people Rating: 3 Star Casa Elena is located 20 km north of Menaggio in a quiet villa quarter of Gera Lario at a dead end road along the lake. The home consists of three floors, of which the owner occupies the upper two and you dispose of the apartment on the ground floor with an apartment facing south with garden furniture and a spacious garden of which the gate can be closed so the children can play safely. Here, you will also find a barbequing corner with a table and benches made of nature stone. From the garden, you can reach the tavern with a large dining table and where you have a fire place, a kitchen corner and a toilet at your disposal. Here, you can grill or sit cosily besides the fire should the weather be bad. The home is not very spacious (30m2), but is very modernly and cosily furnished with a lot of light. In addition, the terrace has an awning, so you will be sitting outside a lot. From the home and the terrace, you have a view over the lane with trees along the lake. In between the road and the lake, there is a park with lots of lovely shady spots; here, you will also find pebble beaches and a mountain creek. At a mere 50 metres from the home, there is a beautiful harbour with recreational boats and a newspaper stand with a cosy terrace by the lake that leads to Sorico. You can park your car in the enclosed garden or, for an additional fee, in the garage. Sleeping up to 4 people Rating: 3 Star This charming holiday home is built on the Northwest bank of Lake Como, in the town of Consiglio di Rumo. It was built recently and is made up of several apartments. This apartment is on the ground floor (80 m, on one level or on different levels), and have a view over the mountains, the lake or the village. In the living room of this apartment there is a narrow spiral staircase which leads down to a basement where you also find two beds. The lake is 650 meters away (as the crow flies) or 1 km away (if you follow the road). At circa 100m you find one of the main roads around the lake, which is convenient to reach different towns.
There are various amenities on offer - shops, bars and restaurants, either in the village itself or in nearby Gravedona (1.5 km away). You can practice various sporting and non-sporting activities close by: windsurfing, sailing, boat rentals, trekking, golf.
Gravedona is only a stones throw away and is an important Lake Como tourist and art centre: beaches, tourist ports and numerous artistic treasures.
The holiday home is also in the perfect base for visiting the rest of Lake Como, Lake Lugano, for shopping in nearby Switzerland (30 km away, where tobacco and petrol cost considerably less), or for a day of haute couture shopping in Milan (1 hour away). Insiders tip: park your car in Como and hop on the train to Milan, to avoid parking difficulties.

The owner occupies part of the restored former farmhouse. The accommodation (1st floor) is of a high standard with new modern furnishings. Large balcony running along the entire front of the property with lovely views of Lake Como.

Sleeping up to 4 people Rating: 2 Star Centrally situated in Porlezza (Lugano Lake), within 500m from the lake, a simple but lovely apartment (85 m2, ground floor) in a cottage (where you will find a total of 2 apartments). There are among other things a garage and little garden. Within a short distance (approx. 500m) is the centre of this lovely tourist town with various shops, a romantic promenade "lungolago", bars, restaurants, disco's etc. In the surrounding are 2 campsites, where the swimming pool, and playground can be used and other facilities (price can be arranged at the place at the reception). Lovely surrounding, but even the rest of the area is interesting: Lugano within 16 km distance, Menaggio (along the closely situated Como Lake) within 11 km, Milan within 90 km.
The border with Zwitserland is within only 9 km. Tip: Here the petrol and tobacco is much cheaper than in Italy.

Sleeping up to 4 people Rating: 2 Star This striking holiday home is mere 10 metres from the shores of Lake Maggiore, on Isola Superiore Pescatori (fishermen island). It is an alluring property containing 2 delightful apartments, one on the ground floor and the other on the second floor. They both feature balconies affording lovely panoramic views over the lake. Furnished with attention to detail, they include several examples period furniture.
Isola Superiore Pescatori is one of the Borromee islands on lake Maggiore and is the only permanently inhabited island in the archipelago. 350 metres long and 100 metres wide, it features a small residential area with distinctive style properties comprising several floors (with long balconies designed for drying fish). There is a small piazza, picturesque narrow streets, a lakeside promenade and main street. 150 permanent residents make a living from the fishing and tourist industries. Inhabited for at least 700 years, it has a tree-lined vantage point, and local handicrafts can be purchased at the small market. Several traditional restaurants serve up delicious dishes, based almost entirely on fish. There are small beach areas on both sides of the Island.

Driving is not permitted on the island and cars must be parked in one of the private or free parking areas in Stresa or Baveno. From here there are excellent connections by ferry shuttle or water-taxi. You can visit the interesting cities of Lugano (30 min.), Como (60 min.) and Milan (60 min.) nearby. You will find a big supermarket in Portoceresio (at 3 km). There are several restaurant on the shores of lake Lugano (1 km). Porto Ceresio is a cosy, typical Italian village and its large parking is the start for a beautiful walking trip.
